3 Key Factors That Determine the Timeline for Gutter Repair

Your home’s gutter system is its best defense against the potential damage that can be caused due to weather, animals, or other causes out of your control – and every once in a while, this system needs to be repaired or replaced! That said, if you find yourself faced with gutter repair, you may be wondering just how long this process is going to take, so you can schedule things accordingly.  Continue reading to learn a little more about three of the main factors that usually determine the timeline for a gutter repair or replacement project.

#1. Your Property Size

Several factors can affect the duration of your gutter project, but among the biggest of them all is the size of your home. Simply put, the larger your house is, the longer it will take to install your gutters. That said, the project usually doesn’t take more than a day to accomplish, unless you’re dealing with an especially big or uniquely designed house. For reference, professionals often need 1 to 4 hours to replace gutters on small or medium-sized homes, with upwards of 8 hours needed for bigger ones. Your home’s structure and the slope of your roof are also relevant factors here.

#2. Weather Conditions

No matter what sort of gutter project you’re kicking off, the weather is going to be influential. For example, you or your contractor may need to stop working due to inclement weather – like a sudden Texas thunderstorm. This is to ensure the safety of the workers, and it also serves to protect your home. In fact, many forms of gutter damage occur due to inclement weather, so it’s best to handle things on a clear and sunny day.

#3. Status & Type of Gutters

Replacing gutters is not as simple as it seems. It requires the use of particular tools and techniques, as well as patience if there is an extensive amount of present damage or if the whole system needs to be replaced. However, keep in mind that some types of gutters may take longer to install than others; for example, seamless gutters are usually made on-site, which can extend the timeline. However, sectional gutters are pre-cut, meaning they’re quicker to install.

Keep in mind that when gutters are installed or repaired correctly, they should last much longer and perform much better – so if you feel like the project may be out of your wheelhouse, don’t hesitate to contact a team of professionals to ensure a job well done!
